Search Setting Error (The gatherer is Shutting down)

When I try to access the Shared Services Provider Search Settings the system display "The gatherer is Shutting down" and Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040D2 error.

To resolve above error, Go to Start > Administrative Tools > Services and look at the “Office SharePoint Server Search” service and click start.

When I try to starting service manually the system gave me following pop up dialogue error:

Error 183: Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

From SharePoint Blog learn that permissions for the services account required change from Local Service account to Local System account

I change setting to Log on as Local System account and select Allow service to interact with desktop.

I go back to Shared Services Provider, Search Settings the system display search configuration page.
